How we determine the beginning of the routine.
How we determine the completion of a routine.
We base the performance length on the category.
Thunderstruck Canada monitors the length of performances. It is important to ensure equality between performances and is it is also a critical factor in the scheduling process. Our online registration system will automatically add extended time to your routine if you enter the correct length in your registration. You can edit this information up to forty-five (45) days before the competition.
There will be a deduction if the performance length exceeds the allowable time limit. It is based on the category and listed in the table at the bottom of the page. There is also information about the time limit for Thunderbolt Solos. It is unique as it includes time for live commentary. You can also find information about the start and stop time of a routine and how we monitor the length of each performance.
The timing of a routine commences from the point the music starts until it is complete unless there is choreography at the outset or the completion of the music. In these cases, it is considered part of the routine. In the instance where there is no music or for an a cappella performance, timing will start and end with the choreography.
We have three (3) different timing mechanisms in place to support a time deduction. First, our sound technician documents the time of each piece of music. If the music exceeds the time limit, it is a clear violation and notifies the Adjudication Team Leader (ATL). Our host/hostess also times routines (which keeps our Web App up-to-date), and will also tell the ATL of a potential violation. The ATL also monitors the time of each performance through the video recordings from adjudicators. In the event a violation is noted, the Competition Director checks all three (3) sources, and will take the appropriate action.
The extended time rate is $2.50 (tax included) per performer in a routine. One (1) minute of extended time for Solos, Duo/Trios, and Groups. Two (2) minutes for Productions Lines.
Our online registration system automatically calculates Extended Time based on the time entered. We recommend that you review the length of your routines before the deadline to protect against any deductions.
Thunderstruck Canada reserves the right to increase the maximum extended time at its discretion.
If a dancer is participating in the Thunderbolt Solo, they perform one solo in this particular category. Set the routine length to five (5) minutes in the online registration regardless of its actual time. The system will automatically categorise their routine and allow time for the live commentary.
